Getting Started with Jelastic

With the Jelastic intuitive UI, you can easily deploy your applications in a fast and trouble free way without ever having to perform any complex configurations.

This guide shows how to get started with Jelastic. In order to run your application on Jelastic you need to follow these simple steps:

  1. Sign up
  2. Create an environment
  3. Deploy application

A. Sign Up: How to Create the Account

To deploy your application, you need to have a Jelastic account.

  1. Go to http://jelastic.com/

  2. how do i start the service
  3. Use our Try it Free widget. Here you should choose a hosting service provider and enter your email address.

  4. Click on Try it Free and you will be automatically redirected to the dashboard where you can sign in using the credentials sent by Jelastic to your email.

B. Create an Environment

When you access the Jelastic dashboard for the first time, you can start by creating your environment:

  1. Click Create environment in the upper left corner of the dashboard.



  2. The Environment topology dialog box will be opened, where you can customize your environment settings (using Basic or Expert wizard mode).



  3. Select your programming language:



  4. Choose the required instances.


  5. State the cloudlet limit for each added node.



  6. Enter your environment name. Note: You cannot edit it after creation. Click Create.
  7. In a few minutes your environment will be created and it will appear in the upper pane of the admin panel.

C. Deploy Application

When your environment is up and running, you can get started on deploying your application. Jelastic provides you with many choices for application deployment. Navigate to the Deployment Guide to get acquainted with the possibilities such as:

  • Archive
  • URL
  • GIT/SVN
  • Plugins

Now, we will show you how to deploy your app using the Jelastic Deployment Manager:

  1. Click Upload in the Jelastic Deployment Manager.



  2. Choose the Local file or URL tab, depending on the source of your file. Click Upload. The Jelastic Deployment Manager supports .tar, .tar.gz, .war, .ear, .zip, .tar.bz2 and .bzip2 formats for local files, and http://, https:// or ftp:// for deploying via URL.
    The maximum available size of a local file is 150 Mb, the size of the file uploaded via a URL has no restrictions.

  3. war

  4. Select your package in the list and click Deploy to drop-down menu.



  5. Choose the environment where you want to deploy your application. In the opened window, specify the application's target context (if you want to deploy several projects into one server) or just leave it blank (then you'll get root context). Click Deploy.



  6. Your application will be deployed to the chosen environment in just a minute. After that you can click Open in browser and confirm that everything works.


  7. If your application requires some additional settings, configure it easily using the Jelastic Config Manager (learn more in the Application Configuration document).
